The AIA Brooklyn Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN) is a Knowledge Community of architects in Brooklyn practicing residential architecture.
MISSION
Support: CRAN supports all architects whose practices focus on residential work. We provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and resources. Participating architects can improve their own practices while contributing to a general knowledge base for the profession.
Advocate: CRAN advocates for the residential practitioner through the publication of position papers and by working closely with national organizations such as AIA, CEDIA, NARI and NAHB. We have established relationships with media outlets such as Hanley Wood and web platforms such as Houzz. We also maintain relationships with industry leaders who sponsor our events.
Educate: CRAN hosts programs and events on both the local and national levels. We provide continuing education opportunities for architects the general public and our allied team members for all aspects of residential architecture. Additional resources are available at AIA.org/CRAN.
MEETINGS
CRAN meetings are typically at 6pm on the 1st Thursday of the month. CRAN members rotate hosting meetings in their office spaces or meet—virtually—on Zoom. See AIA Brooklyn calendar for upcoming meetings and topics.

Join AIA Brooklyn CRAN for a Conversation on Lighting Strategies led by Francesca Bastianini, co-founder and principal of Sighte Studio
Francesca Bastianini is committed to a practice that folds education, research, and community engagement into design. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Francesca moved to the United States to attend Smith College, studying Theatre and Psychology, followed by a Masters in Psychology from Lesley University. In 2010 Francesca graduated from the MFA lighting program at Parsons.
In addition to her work with Sighte Studio and as a Part-time faculty member at SCE, Francesca is also an active member in the New York Lighting industry and volunteers time with Equity in Lighting, the Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY), and the Women in Lighting Project.
